Ogunlade R. Davidson

Ogunlade R. Davidson has been Professor of Mechanical Engineering since 1993 and is currently the Dean of Post-Graduate Studies at University of Sierra Leone, and was Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for several years. Internationally, he is Co-Chair of Working Group III of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), and Co-Chair of Steering Committee of the Global Network on Energy for Sustainable Development (GNESD). Between 2000 and 2003 he was Professor and Director of the Energy and Development Research Centre (EDRC), of University of Cape Town, South Africa. Before then, he was a Senior Fulbright Scholar at University of California, Berkeley in 1987, and MacArthur Scholar at Princeton University and Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory in USA in 1990-92. He has worked as visiting Professor at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, ENDA-TM in Senegal, and Riso National Laboratory in Denmark. His has published extensively in African Energy Systems and Policies, Power sector reform, Renewable Energy policy, Mitigation of Climate Change and on National Climate Change strategy. He has worked as a Consultant for several bodies including UNESCO, UNIDO, ILO, UNECA, UNDP, UNEP, GEF, UNFCCC, NEPAD, ADB, World Bank, Batelle laboratories and Carnegie Corporation New York. Professionally, he is a Registered Chartered Engineer of United Kingdom and Fellow of the African Academy of Sciences and the Sierra Leone Institution of Engineers.
